Our range of bathroom seating options have different load capacities depending on the model; therefore it is important to always select a product with a safe working load at or above the maximum weight you expect it to carry.

Bathroom space

When selecting a bathroom aid, it is important to consider your bathroom space and if the selected equipment will safely fit the space with enough clearance.

Other considerations relate to your specific needs and the environment in which the product will be used:

Consider the individual user’s needs and requirements when selecting a bathroom aid such as their level of mobility and support required e.g. does the equipment need to be height adjustable?, does the seating aid require a backrest and armrests for support?
Consider if the aid is to be used short or long term, and if a removable or fixed aid is required. For shared bathrooms, consider if the item can be easily moved and re-fitted after each use. Consider if the aid needs to accomodate a user and their mobility aid such as a wheelchair.
Does the user have difficulty completing showering over a bath whilst standing, becomes fatigued when standing in a bath, or is unsteady when standing in a bath? If yes, a bath seat, bath transfer bench, or bath board may be suitable.
Does the user tire easily or feel unsteady when showering? If yes, a shower chair or shower stool may be suitable.
Does the inividual have difficulty getting in and out of the bath or stepping over a bath/shower edge or hob? If yes, a bath transfer bench or bath board may be suitable.
Does the individual have difficulty reaching different parts of their body when washing/grooming, has reduced movement, or reduced hand dexterity/grip/strength? If yes, then a long handled grooming aid (long handle sponge, long handle brush), foot scrubber, or hand held shower may be a suitable option.
Is the individual unsteady on their feet or has reduced mobility to access the bathroom, with the risk of falls or safety concerns ? If yes, then grab rails and non-slip mats may be a suitable option.
